At Oceans , we believe that talent knows no boundaries. That’s why we connect the best and brightest professionals with career-defining opportunities that challenge, inspire, and accelerate their career growth. Our community, whom we call Divers , don’t just work—they dive deep, solve complex challenges, and make a real impact with global industry leaders. And in doing so, they don’t just support bold ideas—they expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers.
We are looking for a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Marketing Strategist to help build the marketing function from the ground up for a fast-growing AI security startup. This is a true player-coach role requiring someone who can operate strategically while remaining deeply hands-on. You will assess the company's current marketing position, identify critical gaps, determine what needs to be built, craft the strategy, and personally execute against it.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in marketing complex technology products to the U.S. market and can independently develop the positioning, messaging, channels, programs, and processes needed to increase brand awareness and generate qualified sales opportunities. This role is built for a self-directed marketing builder who thrives in early-stage environments without an established playbook or a team to delegate to.
Accountability
As a Senior Marketing Strategist, your success will be defined by your ability to establish a scalable marketing foundation, refine product positioning, and drive qualified sales pipeline through hands-on strategy and execution.
Here’s how you’ll make an impact:
Marketing Strategy & Growth Foundation
Positioning, Messaging & Brand Architecture
Content & Organic Acquisition
Lifecycle, Email & Outbound Marketing
Website & Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
Analytics, Marketing Operations & Sales Alignment
Colleagues
You will work directly with the Hiring Manager / Search Lead and company Founders, while partnering closely with Sales, technical product teams, and cross-functional leadership to align marketing strategies with commercial goals. At Oceans , you’ll also receive guidance and support from your Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you’re continuously growing and developing in your career.
Skills and Qualifications
At Oceans , we believe in T-shaped individuals—those who bring deep expertise in one area, paired with broad curiosity and interests. As a Senior Marketing Strategist, your vertical strength will be organic growth strategy, strategic positioning, and marketing analytics, while your horizontal capabilities should span lifecycle marketing, conversion rate optimization, and cross-functional sales alignment.
To excel in this role, you should have:
Experience : Mid-to-senior marketing experience with proven ownership in building marketing functions or major programs from scratch within early-stage, fast-paced startup environments.
Domain Expertise : Demonstrated experience marketing complex B2B technology products (such as AI, cybersecurity, SaaS, or frontier technology) to the U.S. enterprise market.
Core Competencies : Hands-on mastery across content creation, organic acquisition, email/outbound marketing, lead generation, website positioning, and CRO.
Analytics & Systems: Strong analytical judgment with proven ability to build KPI frameworks, evaluate funnel performance, and make data-driven decisions.
Mindset: A genuine player-coach mentality with high autonomy, comfortable navigating ambiguity, solving unstructured problems, and executing without delegated teams.
Communication: Professional fluency in English with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, especially in simplifying technical topics for business buyers.
During the interview process, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:
Strategic Problem-Solving: How have you entered an unstructured environment, diagnosed marketing gaps, built the strategy, executed the work, and iterated based on performance data?
Product Positioning & Messaging: How do you translate complex technical products (AI/cybersecurity) into compelling commercial narratives for U.S. enterprise buyers?
Full-Funnel Ownership: How do you balance strategic planning with hands-on execution across content, email, website optimization, and analytics?
Data-Driven Decision-Making: How have you used performance analytics and funnel visibility to adjust marketing direction and optimize sales pipeline outcomes?
Sales Alignment: How do you partner with sales leaders and founders to ensure marketing initiatives drive measurable revenue and pipeline impact?
Diversity of experience is core to Oceans . You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.
Role Specifications
This is a remote role, where you will be expected to work a split shift with some overlap with our client’s time zone. You will, however, be expected to be present for in-person training programs during your first 3.5 weeks with us. During the offer process, we’ll share more information about our benefits and compensation philosophy, considering both market trends and individual factors.
