Creative Strategist (Freelance)

Edit every script by hand. Nothing goes to talent or the client without a human read. You cut, rewrite and sharpen each draft so it sounds like a real person talking, fits the brand and is easy to perform.

Check every claim. AI can invent facts, results and testimonials. You verify each claim, number and promise against the client's own materials, and you keep scripts within platform ad policy and any client or legal rules.

Build the system. Maintain the prompts, reference documents (research, personas, offer, past winners) and script templates your pod uses, and improve them based on which drafts get approved and which ads perform.

Close the loop. Label each script by angle and hook type, so performance data shows what to ask AI for next.

Know when not to use it. Some concepts, especially ones that depend on a personal story or a delicate topic, are better written by you from scratch.

Writing modular scripts

Every script you write is built from interchangeable sections, so one shoot can produce many ad variations and we can test one element at a time.

Write in blocks. Build each script from labeled sections: hook, setup, body, proof, offer and call to action. Each section should work on its own and connect cleanly to the others.

Write several hooks and CTAs per script. Pair multiple hooks with the same body, and multiple calls to action with the same close, so editors can mix and match from a single set of footage.

Keep sections self-contained. Avoid lines that only make sense in one order, such as references to something said earlier, so any hook can be swapped in without breaking the flow.

Brief talent for swaps. Have talent record each hook and CTA in more than one take and in a consistent tone, framing and pace, so the pieces cut together without a visible seam.

Name every module. Give each hook, body and CTA an ID and record which combination went into each ad, so results can be traced to the specific element that won or lost.

Lock compliance in its own modules. Keep approved claims, required disclaimers and disclosures in fixed sections, and re-check any new combination before it goes out.

Use AI on the modules. Ask AI for fresh hook and CTA variations against a body that already works, then edit and approve the ones worth shooting.

Platform and regulatory compliance

Some of our clients work in regulated industries, such as health and wellness, supplements, financial services, legal services, and credit, housing or employment offers. You are the first line of defense: every script and creative direction you give must be written to pass Meta and Google review and to stay within the rules that apply to the client.

Know the platform rules. Keep current on both Meta's and Google's advertising policies, including Meta's special ad categories, Google's restricted categories, and the limits each sets on health claims, personal attributes, before-and-after claims, misleading claims and sensitive topics. Write scripts that stay inside both so ads are not rejected and accounts are not restricted. Policies change often, so check them again before each new batch of creative.

Know the client's industry rules. For each regulated client, learn the claims, disclosures and disclaimers their industry requires, and write them into the script and the on-screen text, not as an afterthought.

Substantiate every claim. Do not write results, savings, health benefits or guarantees that the client cannot back up with documentation. Follow advertising rules on endorsements, testimonials and paid creators, including clear disclosure of paid relationships.

Brief talent on what they cannot say. Give creators and on-camera talent a plain list of prohibited claims and required disclosures, and review raw footage for off-script statements before it goes to editing.

Get approvals in writing. Route scripts and final ads for client sign-off, and for the client's legal or compliance reviewer where the client requires it. Keep a record of what was approved and when.

Hold AI drafts to the same standard. AI tools do not know a client's compliance rules. Check every AI-drafted line against them before it moves forward.

Escalate, don't guess. When a claim or format is unclear, raise it with the Traffic Manager and the client instead of publishing and hoping.

You are not expected to give legal advice. You are expected to spot risk early, follow the client's compliance guidance, and bring in the client's legal or compliance contact when needed.

What success looks like

First 30 days: you know every client in your pod, have read their research, offer and best-performing ads, and have shipped your first scripts with talent booked for the next shoot.

First 60 days: each client has a written creative priority list you maintain weekly, a repeatable brief your editors and designers work from, and a shortlist of talent you have worked with.

First 90 days: you run the full loop for your clients without help: analyze results, set priorities, write, direct and hand off. New creative ships on schedule, and you can show which ads came from which learning.

What you bring

• Experience writing direct-response video scripts and hooks for paid social, with examples you can show.

• A track record of reading ad-level performance data (hook rate, CTR, CPA or ROAS, frequency) and turning it into clear creative decisions.

• Experience directing on-camera talent or creators, in person or remotely, and giving useful notes on raw footage.

• Experience briefing and managing editors and designers, and giving feedback that is specific and kind.

• Comfort in Meta Ads Manager and a reporting tool such as a spreadsheet or dashboard.

• Clear writing and good judgment about what to make first when everything feels urgent.

• Reliable follow-through across several clients at once.

• Hands-on experience using AI tools to draft and iterate on scripts, and the editing skill to turn those drafts into ads that sound human.

Nice to have

• Experience with UGC and creator-led ads for ecommerce or lead generation clients.

• Familiarity with creative testing frameworks and with how Meta delivers and fatigues creative.

• Basic editing skills, enough to rough-cut a hook or mark up a cut.

• Experience working inside an agency with several client accounts.

How the role fits

YAMU Media organizes client work into pods. Each pod is built for 5 to 8 clients and pairs a Traffic Manager with a Creative Strategist, supported by video editors and designers. You are the creative lead of your pod. The Traffic Manager owns media buying and the client relationship; you own what the ads say and show.

You will work every week with the Traffic Manager on what the data says, with editors and designers on production, and with talent on shoots. You report to Account Manager.
