About the role
As Grüns scales rapidly, we’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Manager of Science & Research to play a critical role in shaping the scientific foundation behind new product innovation and marketing strategies. This role will sit at the intersection of science, marketing, and product, ensuring we build trust with our customers and continue to launch first-of-their-kind formulas backed by evidence and data. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for advancing health and wellness, and a strong scientific background, with demonstrated expertise in claims substantiation and clinical research design and analysis.
This is a foundational hire for the business and an opportunity to shape how we think about research, compliance, and education as we expand our portfolio, and will report into our Director of Science and Regulatory.
This role is part of our remote HQ! We have a fully remote, high-trust work environment - and also come together on a bi-annual basis for amazing off-sites where we can connect IRL.
In this role, you will:
Claims Research & Substantiation : Evaluate existing and emerging ingredients to develop new, evidence-based claims across our product portfolio ( Grüns , Grüns kids, Nütrops, Immün, Jüced, and future innovations). You’ll be responsible for successfully implementing new claims across all current and upcoming products.
Marketing Compliance : Review marketing materials to elevate claims and ensure regulatory compliance. You’ll help ensure that all customer-facing content is both compliant and compelling.
Innovation Research & R&D : Partner with the Product and Marketing teams to research ingredient benefits, inform new formulas, and support early-stage product ideation. You’ll play a key role in developing and supporting first-of-their-kind innovations.
Clinical Studies : Support clinical study initiatives for new products, working closely with Director of Science and Regulatory and third-party partners to design and execute trials. You’ll help establish credibility in effective offerings across multiple consumer needs categories.
Internal Education : Develop clear substantiation dossiers, scientific guidelines, and AI-enabled projects to upskill internal teams. By year one, these should be embedded in onboarding and internal communications to ensure cross-functional fluency.
We're looking for someone who:
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in science, regulatory affairs, or product development, including at least 1+ year within the dietary supplement or food industry in a related capacity.
Education: Master’s degree or higher in a health-related scientific field (ex. nutrition, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, public health, etc.). PhD preferred.
Scientific Expertise : Deep understanding of scientific research methods plus strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex scientific information into concise, actionable insights.
Innovation Mindset : Passion for uncovering new ingredient science and supporting product formulation.
Clinical Know-how : Experience with clinical study design, management, and analysis is preferred.
Regulatory Fluency : Familiarity with FDA and FTC regulations related to dietary supplements, especially regarding structure/function claims and substantiation. Understanding of dietary supplement labeling, GRAS assessments, and new dietary ingredient (NDI) submissions, a plus.
Solution-Oriented Mindset : Brings a collaborative, can-do approach to problem solving, focused on finding paths forward rather than roadblocks. Knows how to assess risk thoughtfully and take smart, calculated bets when needed.
Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Working Style : Curious, solutions-oriented, collaborative, and organized with a bias toward action and creating scalable processes.
Approach to the role:
Self-motivated and proactive - takes initiative in identifying research opportunities and drives projects forward independently while keeping stakeholders informed
Detail-oriented and scientifically rigorous - maintains high standards for accuracy in claims substantiation and ensures all research meets regulatory compliance requirements
Highly organized and process-driven - develops scalable systems for research documentation, claims tracking, and cross-functional collaboration to support rapid business growth
Time-efficient and results-focused - prioritizes high-impact research initiatives and manages multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
Collaborative and solutions-oriented - works seamlessly across science, marketing, and product teams to translate complex scientific concepts into actionable business strategies
Compensation & Benefits:
At Grüns , we're committed to providing a competitive total compensation package—grounded in market data that considers our size, stage, industry, and location. For this role, the base salary range is between $115,000-$130,000 plus bonus depending on experience.
A bit about us...
At Grüns , we believe that foundational nutrition should be simple and convenient for everyone. We're dedicated to bringing comprehensive and real nutrition to you through our gummies, formulated from 60 nutrient-dense and whole-food ingredients. Simply enjoy a grab-and-go snack pack of gummies daily whenever fits best in your schedule and wherever life takes you.
Like you, we were disappointed. There’s an infinite number of “nutrition” companies, all focused on what’s best for them — not what’s best for you. Hundreds of products to sell you on, low-quality ingredients, and small nutrient doses. We’ve seen it all.
So we decided it was time to fix it. No more choking on and popping pills like a pharmacy. No more clean-up and disgust from gross powders. And no more cobbling together handfuls to dozens of supplements. Grüns is comprehensive nutrition, made convenient and delicious.
What we care about...
Be the Best: We hold ourselves, our teams, and our partners to an incredibly high standard - and we raise the bar constantly. "We've never done this before" isn't an excuse here. It's an invitation.
Own It: We act like our name is on the door. That means taking complete ownership of outcomes, collaborating deeply, working through roadblocks - not around them - and never waiting for someone else to solve the problem. Great owners are great partners.
Drive Impact, Urgently: We measure impact, not effort. We work smart and hard, move fast, and use every tool at our disposal - including AI - to focus our energy where it matters most.
Compensation & Perks:
For every role, we aim to have highly competitive compensation and opportunity for impact and career growth.
Everyone at Grüns works hard, but we believe in wellness and balance too. We have super strong benefits coverage -- for you and your family, generous PTO, free Grüns , and a few more perks centered around health and well-being that we can't wait to tell you about!
